El Dorado Fire

These photos were taken on the El Dorado Fire on September 17 2020. I traveled up as a second set of eyes for a friend and to take some photos as well. We first went into the town of Forest Falls due to some heat signatures on the maps as we were getting into the area. We had just missed a firing operation to help protect the structures in the town. We decided to continue driving up the 38 towards some smoke that was showing over the mountain to the north of us. As we continued down the 38 we would stop in areas with significant fire behavior since, capturing that was Anthony’s assignment for the day. We heard of a Firing operation in the area of Jenks Lake so we went up to that area to scout it out. Later on during the firing operation we located ourselves on the 38 near the Prado Inmate Crew. The winds started to increase and we witnessed Crown Fires and Ember Cast. There were about 3-4 spot fires on the north side of the 38 which crews picked up quickly. When the conditions started to die down we made the decision to head down the mountain to go home. When we were driving down the mountain we saw some decent fre behavior worth filming so we stopped. That short stop turned into close to an hour at least of filming and taking photos as it turned into a firing operation to keep the fire in check.
